I woke up to the shrill call of a bird, and my Imdadiya students rushed to my room to inform me about peacocks near our residence. Initially, I found it hard to believe, as I didn't expect peacocks to visit a coastal village. I grabbed my phone to capture some pictures, although the outcome wasn't as satisfactory as I hoped.
Heading to the mess for breakfast, I encountered an unexpected twist—a breakfast mishap resulted in "sweet Upma" due to a mix-up of sugar instead of salt by the cook, Ibrahimkka. Surprisingly, it turned out to be delicious. After that, I perused the old newspaper cuttings on Perumathura given to me by Harris Ahsani. Among them, I found a vintage picture of Muthalappozhi from a time when it was merely an estuary and not yet a harbour. The cuttings also featured a short hagiography of Faqeeran Valiyullah and other prominent figures from Perumathura's past. In the afternoon, I conducted mathematics lessons for Imdadiya students.
Prepared for Educare classes, I diligently ironed my clothes and arrived promptly to teach the 5th standard. Interestingly, the 6th-standard students were very curious to hear my native Malappuram accent. As evening descended, I enjoyed dinner from Imdadiya—porotta and egg curry. During the nighttime tuition, Educare convenor Sajid joined as per my request, and we discussed expanding my outreach to the community's livelihood activities. I expressed my genuine interest in going sea fishing, but he advised me to wait a few more days due to increased risk during this off-season.
